Vic Hadfield Playing Cards
Canada Sports Hall of Fame put out a set of 56 playing cards including the 4 jokers. 13 Players were selected with each player having four picture cards (Heart,Diamond, Club, and Spade).
One of the great athletes I got to know over my time helping out at CSHOF was Vic Hadfield. We had a love-hate relationship as there was a lot of sarcasm between us.
At one of the CSHOF events, Sportsnet had a table and I thought this would be a good chance for me to get Vic to sign the cards without me asking. I know he would have put a few sarcastic comments on the cards. So I asked our production co-ordinator Michelle if she would ask Vic for his autograph on all four cards. She knew I would owe her lunch in the future.
She approached Vic and in her usually very pleasant way asked Vic if he would sign the cards. He asked her if they were for her. She of course said yes. He then asked her does she really even know who I was. She was now stuck and had to back peddle. She then said she was getting them for her boss. He then asked her to point out the table her boss was at. I quickly ducked under the table. He did eventually sign them and we had a good chuckle afterwards.
