For those of you that do not know me, I have been collecting Memorabilia for close to 35 years.
I am an Accountant (CPA) by profession and worked in a Senior Management role at Rogers Sportsnet, Dome Production/TSN, and CTV Television for just over 25 years. I also sat on many affiliated Boards over the years. Currently and my last 12 years, I work as a Senior Financial Consultant (CFP) at IG WealthManagement. My clients are former Colleagues and staff from the Sports and Entertainment world.
Just to clear, nothing in this web site is for sale as most of these items have sentimental meaning. Stories that I have included is in another section you can read at your leisure and I will keep writing more stories as time permits. Some of the stories will go in great depth how I got started collecting and many will give you insights on the fun ride I had working in the sports television industry.
My goal down the road is to donate all or part of my collection to the various Sports Halls rather than just having it all sold off when I pass on. I am sure my daughter will appreciate not having to deal with everything you are about to see.
I will have included close to 10,000 photographs when I am done, and I will have broken it down into 5 main sections.
1. Complete Walls
2. Unique Sections or Blocks (Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Football, etc)
3. Item by item broken down in categories. (Eg Baseball Bats, Hockey Pucks, Bobbleheads, Jerseys, Bobbleheads, Pins, etc.)
4. Stories of my collection
5. Photos of me with some of the players
6. Eventually a section sorted by player. (Eg. Gretzky, Jordan, Orr, Ali, Halladay, Crosby, Woods etc.)
Most of the items I have collected were purchased at Charity events, dinners and auctions held annually such as the Jays Diamond Gala, Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Raptors/Leafs Foundation or Rap Up Events, Easter Seals Conn Smythe Dinner, Canada Sports Hall of Fame Dinners and events etc.
My favourite part of collecting is finding unique items and then getting them signed by the players at the semi-annual Sportcardexpo in Toronto or Frozen Pond, AJ Sportsworld, Frameworth, etc. It is always a great experience to talk to the players outside of work and they usually get a kick out of seeing some of the items that either belonged to them or they were part of..
