Leaf's Captains Print Signed with Matching One with Me
The Leaf’s Captains Dinner was a very unique dinner as it was to have all 10 at the time Leaf’s Captains attend and be in the Photo. (Including rarely seen George Armstrong and Dave Keon)
As it turned out George did not make the Dinner but was in the unique numbered photo. We had the opportunity to be in a matching photo live that evening with all the Captains except George of course.
The cost of the event was $10,000 per ticket but included one of the signed photos out of 1,000. Because of the huge cost, Sportsnet did not get a table but asked all the Senior Management Team if anyone wanted to attend. Most of other Senior Managers never really enjoyed going to these night events so I was lucky enough to attend with Dave R (Sportsnet’s communication director). As VP Finance and Admin, I knew we could not keep these $1,000 prints since we personally did not pay for the tickets so I suggested we donate them to our United Way fund raising event. I knew I had to have this memorable signed photo and eventually was the highest bidder which ran me close to the expected $1,000 value at the time. That was a memorable evening as I had Dave Keon also sign the back of my MLG Chair. (No, I didn’t carry the whole chair to the event, but just unscrewed the seat back)
